Hi,

I’m Mary Collis. I’m a nutritionist working out of the Hawkesbury Valley west of Sydney.

What exactly does a nutritionist do? Do you think I put together diets?

Sort of – but more than that:

I try to work out, by asking lots of questions and looking over any medical reports you have had, why you got sick in the first place, then I put together an individualised plan to walk you back out of your condition into better health all round. No two plans are the same, each is tailored to your life situation.

When my mother became ill with breast cancer many years ago, I had a feeling that what a person ate could perhaps affect the outcome. The problem was, we couldn’t find anyone at all who knew anything about it. That frustrated me no end. This became the impetus for me returning to college to find out exactly how food and lifestyle could impact health.

Some conditions I help

After two degrees in Nutrition, I have discovered that food and lifestyle change make a significant difference to practically every health condition.

  • I think of my grandmother who died young, long before I met her, from the side effects of the drugs prescribed to her for rheumatoid arthritis. I wish I’d been able to show her how food can greatly improve and often heal this condition.
  • Many put up with digestive ailments of all types for years and years, becoming increasingly isolated and suffering silently.
  • A rapidly growing number with autoimmune diseases and
  • mental illness – which is strongly influenced by food and lifestyle
  • Of those suffering with allergies and respiratory conditions, unaware that food can fix them
  • Of those with the niggling concern that their cancer could return. Wondering if there is there anything they can do to lower their risk?

The scientific literature shows that nutrition can help an incredible number of conditions – it’s really amazing!

My step by step plans

I don’t just tell my clients the facts though. I put together a step-by-step plan for you and help you walk through it.

You’ll leave much better off than when you first came in. Don’t let illness hold you back from life.

Or do both!

A few things about me:

  • I’m married to Paul, a finance and management expert in the building industry.
  • I’ve got five grown-up kids who are out making their way in the world. Most of them live nearby (or still live at home)
  • My two Jack Russell dogs, Skippa and Harley, live with us and like regular walks.
  • Snow skiing is my favourite holiday thing to do, (but there is no snow where I live). I also enjoy stand-up paddling – and there is a big river near me.
  • I love playing midi-keyboard in my church band and have been playing piano most of my life.

I look forward to talking with you soon.
